GRATEFUL FOR BEING ABLE TO WELCOME A NEW YEAR HNY!!! (Happy New Year) Let's break the dawn of this HNY by welcoming Socho Koshin Ogui as our guest speaker at the Ho-Onko service. For the first time in our temple's history, we are honored with the presence of a reigning Bishop. This is truly a very special event! When a Bishop visits a temple, even a very small one, the temple becomes noticed. We are very grateful that he is able to take the time out of his busy schedule to visit and share his special message with us. Also this year, we welcome new speakers with their fresh views and experiences. They are: Ellen Crane, Jim Pollard, Ron Taber, and Mark Van Dyke. These speakers are in addition to the current Reverends and Senseis. We are grateful for OCBC's continued support. Another "first" for VBT history is our new Board of Directors that consists of more women than men. I am confident of the strength of this board and that we will achieve some major accomplishments. I am grateful that these individuals volunteered to help guide us towards a successful future. Finally, I am truly grateful for the past president, George, who jumped in and led us for the past two years. Under his leadership, we accomplished several goals such as having OCBC provide religious guidance and supervision, paying down temple debts through fundraising, and growing the temple membership.
