President's Notes

mkubota1.jpg (8615 bytes)By the time you read this newsletter, the games of the Summer Olympics will have concluded, the closing ceremony held and the flames from the torch passed on to the next location somewhere in Utah.  I hope all of you sports enthusiasts got the chance to follow the events and view it on the TV as much as I did the last 2 weeks.

It has been said that the Olympics are all about dreams.   A victory in an event is a fulfillment of a dream come true for the athletes and for the spectators, a dream that perhaps one only accomplishes vicariously through the athletes.

Speaking of dreams, I have something that I would like to share with you, a reality that is closer to home.  I had mentioned in an article several months ago that negotiation to obtain financial aid from BCA was in the works.  I was informed by BCA last month that our loan request was approved and that the monies are available for immediate disbursement.  It is a loan of $100,000 with very attractive terms.

You see, for some of us this is a dream come true.  Ten years ago, the Board had high hopes and perhaps dreamt that some day the BCA would come to the aid of a struggling temple.  We were quite persistent with our requests but suffered for years without any helpful response from them.  Well, they have come through for us.  The disbursement of funds is pending final negotiation on the terms of the loan.   Although the excitement is not the same as winning a medal, nor is it profoundly celebratory, it is a happy moment for some. ...Mick Kubota
