Obon: A Gathering of Joy & Remembrance
July 23, 2022 3pm - 6pm
150 Cedar Rd. Vista, CA 92083
Obon is a special occasion in Japan and for Shin Buddhists. It is a time to remember those who have gone before us and to reflect on how their lives made our own possible with deep gratitude. Vista Buddhist Temple is looking forward to hosting an Obon Gathering this year, and invite you to join us. Below is what will be offered during the gathering and free onsite parking will be available.
Please note this year is not a festival and no food will be available for purchase, but we encourage you to visit local restaurants like Teri Cafe.

Bon Odori Dancing
Join the dance circle and experience traditional Japanese folk dancing. All are welcome to dance in memory of those who have passed on.

Obon Memorial
Honor and express gratitude to those who have passed. Memorials will be listed during the gathering and in the Vista View August newsletter. Submit a memorial contribution using this form.

Taiko Drumming
Come listen to the Shokenji Taiko drum group perform some of their greatest hits!

Marketplace
Stop by the Marketplace where a variety of handmaid crafts, small goods, and plants will be available for purchase during the gathering.
