About the Event
The VBT Buddhist Education Committee is very pleased to be able to host Rev. Blake Honda for an upcoming seminar on June 28th. Stay tuned for more details as they become available!
Join us as we explore the lives of the Myokonin—a unique group of devout Jodo Shinshu followers from the Edo Period whose name beautifully translates to "Wondrous People." Though they are characterized as uneducated and lower class, they possessed a profound appreciation and understanding of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism. Through their stories, poems, and lived experiences, they reveal a unique embodiment of the Jodo Shinshu faith—one that prompts us to look beyond the textual understanding of Buddhism and see how the teachings truly illuminate and embrace us "just as you are."
Light refreshments will be served downstairs in the social hall.
Suggested Donation: VBT Members $5 ; Non-Members $15
